The 75 gallon reef aquarium was setup for 6 years.  The aquarium was started from a 50 gallon reef aquarium that was setup for 2 years.

These are the first pictures of the reef aquarium that were taken.  The tank was lit by four 48” VHO’s, had a mag 7 for a return pump, ETSS Evolution 500 protein skimmer, and a couple of maxi-jet power heads.  It had a deep sand bed around 4”.  The tank is an reef ready all glass 75 gallon 48”x18”X20”  Photos taken on 7/30/2004

I still have the large devils hand in this picture.

Sorry for the poor photo quality but this was taken well before I understood how to take a good picture.

This next set of photos was from July of 2007.  No major changes to the setup at this time except I added a Seio power head along with a couple of maxijets.

This photos were taken in January of 2008.  At this time I decided to change my lights to T-5’s.  I started with 4 bulbs and eventually went to 6.  I started to get into SPS corals so I decided it was time to go with higher power lights.  I also added 3 Hydor koralia 3 power heads instead of the Seios and maxijets.

These were taken in February of 2009.  At this point in time the tank was flourishing.  There was great coral growth and color.  Over the next couple of months are started battling hair algae which I could not get under complete control.  It was decided in May of 2009 I was going to upgrade to a larger aquarium and combine my 125 gallon reef with my 75 gallon reef.  I bought the 240 aquarium in June of 2009.  The tank was completely torn down in December of 2009 and the contents were moved into the 240.  To see the 240 build details click here.
